Dr. Dunwei Wen, Associate Professor of the School of Computing and Information Systems, Athabasca University, Canada, was invited by the College of Communication Engineering of Jilin University to conduct a multi-day academic exchange activities on the Nanhu campus from October 19th to November 9th. In the event, he delivered wonderful academic reports themed on “Probabilistic Graphical Models (PGM) and Statistical Learning in a nutshell”, “Inference and Learning Algorithms for PGM”, “Latent Dirichlet Allocation for joint text and image processing”, “Extending Hierarchical Dirichlet Processes”, “Support vector Machines (SVM) and Kernal Methods”, “SVM for Image and Text Classifications”, “Structural Machine Learning and Statistical Relational Learning” and other topics.

Moreover, Dr. Dunwei Wen also conducted in-depth discussions with the teachers and students of our college on the hotspots and application problems related to pattern recognition and artificial intelligence. He answered the relevant questions raised by the teachers and students on the spot in detail, and discussed with them about research experiences, obtaining great results.
